Sophie
Engagement & Fundraising Officer:
In 2024 I was delighted to discover that I was pregnant with twins. Unfortunately at 23 weeks I experienced a preterm labour, and both our babies died neonatally after living for just a few hours each. We named them Poppy and Arthur, and although their lives were short they will shape my family forever.
In the months following their death, peer support from other bereaved parents who understand the pain and devastation of baby loss has been an absolute lifeline.
I am so pleased to be part of the Footprints Baby Loss team, and feel that the work I will be doing to support the charity is a wonderful way to honour my twins. I have several years experience working within the charity sector which I bring to the role, and I look forward to supporting the charity to develop.
Rebecca
Support Officer:
In 2019 one of our baby twin girls, Lily, died at 31 weeks of pregnancy. We spent one month in the neonatal unit with her surviving twin. We subsequently had another baby a few years later.
Losing a baby alongside caring for a newborn was full of pendulum swing moments of simultaneous joy and grief. Sharon and Suzie supported me with the initial grief and the longer term unique impacts of this complex loss. Suzie as my befriender helped me to navigate introducing our surviving twin to the idea of being a twin, celebrating birthdays, coping with seeing twin siblings and significant milestones like my surviving twin starting school.
I initially joined Footprints Baby Loss as a volunteer Befriender supporting others with a similar experience to me. I became the Support Officer in 2025 and it’s my hope that Lily’s small footprints in the world will continue to make a big difference supporting others.
