50k Challenge

London Royal Parks 50k Challenge

Saturday 17th August 2024

A team from Footprints completed its most challenging fundraiser to date – The Royal Parks 50k.

The Footprints team visited all the London Royal Parks in a single day, treking along the banks of the River Thames to cover this challenging 50km distance trek (yes, that’s longer than a marathon in a single day!).

The trek started in the first Royal Park – Bushy Park – then followed the River Thames to Richmond Park. The route took us straight across historic parkland and beautiful green spaces before we crossed the river again and headed into Chelsea. Little known Brompton Cemetery was the next Royal Park before reaching the beautiful Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. We continued on through Green Park and past the iconic Buckingham Palace to reach St James’s Park, the seventh Royal Park. We then made our way to historic Westminster and Victoria Tower Gardens before heading north to our ninth Royal Park, Regent’s Park. Our final Royal Park to reach was Greenwich Park, passing the Cutty Sark before reaching the Greenwich park gates

We walked in memory of our twins and triplets and talked about them throughout the day.

A few comments from the team…

“Great to be part of Team Footprints and take part in the 10 parks challenge. It definitely was a challenge, but raising money for Footprints encouraged me on. So glad I did it.” Clare, friend of Sharon

“Had a fab day today and feel very privileged to be take part in an event raising money for a great cause.” Rose, friend of Sharon

“It was an honour and privilege to walk with you all today!” Ellen, friend of Sharon

“It was an honour to do this challenge with 6 amazing ladies. I’m so proud to be a part of this charity. It was a hard challenge this year but the support and money raised made it all worth it” Vikki, mum of twin girls
