It was wonderful to be among 320 parkrunners at BLAW Banbury parkrun on October 11th. It was my 386th parkrun – and a particularly special one. My son joined me too, running one lap by my side before dashing off ahead!

That week marked Baby Loss Awareness Week, and I asked if we could wear pink and blue to help raise awareness. I arrived early with my family and was touched to see so many people turning up dressed in pink and blue.

Every day in the UK, 13 babies die shortly before, during, or soon after birth. At least one in six pregnancies ends in miscarriage. Almost two years ago, I launched a charity – Footprints Baby Loss Twin and Triplet Support – for anyone who would like to find out more: http://footprintsbabyloss.org

We were also joined by the Banbury Cross Players, who came dressed in their pantomime costumes and cheered us on around the course – often in character! Hopefully, the villain didn’t scare too many of the children! Thank you so much to everyone involved.

I’ve been running at BLAW Banbury parkrun since it first launched, and I still love everything about it – especially the incredible sense of community. A huge thank you to the core team for supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week and helping to raise awareness while breaking down stigma and taboo.
