Footprints and The Skye High Remembrance Service

2 min readIt was such a lovely day in London for our Remembrance service with The Skye Foundation during Baby Loss Awareness week.

We welcomed lots of families including children to remember our twins and triplets together. We had some beautiful memory making including making bracelets, using our fingerprints to add our babies’ names to a bouquet picture, our flower heart where we all added real flowers to make a beautiful floral heart tribute, we also had stars, butterflies, memory cards to our babies and lots of activities for children who were proudly making things for their brothers and sisters.
We were so pleased to be joined by Laura, who came along and played the cello for us the entire afternoon, playing many songs that remind us of our babies. We had a short service part during the afternoon where Millie, Suzie and Sharon talked a bit about their experiences and then later on we came together to light our candles in our personalised lanterns. We brought them up to the front of the room and had a moment to remember our babies alongside some music and poems. Louise shared her son’s beautiful poem written for his brother Luca.

It was so lovely to come together in person with some people that we’ve met before and some people that were meeting for the first time, to talk, to remember and to be in such a beautiful, compassionate space.
We have just booked a date in December for our Winter Remembering Day, which is being held in the most beautiful venue in Oxford. We hope that lots of you join us to make it another really special day.
